About your opportunity

The Mental Health Service Group is currently seeking to recruit a Mental Health Clinician - Addictions to their team on a permanent full-time basis. This position is based in Ayr.

Applications are being sought from candidates within Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work.

The Mental Health Clinician will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and other service providers to provide specialist mental health and alcohol and drugs interventions for community members (and their families) across the lifespan who experience complex and severe problems relating to their mental health and/or alcohol, or other drug use disorders.

The Rural and Remote Mental Health Program provides mental health and alcohol and drugs services to rural and remote communities within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service area.

These services are coordinated through four community mental health teams located in Palm Island, Ingham, Burdekin and Charters Towers. This employment opportunity is located in the Burdekin Mental Health Service based at the Ayr Hospital.

Generous remuneration package value up to $118,744 p.a. (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1) or $118,996 p.a. (HP3) comprising:

  • Salary range of $3714.50 to $3977.40 p.f. (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1) or $2719.80 to $3997.60 p.f. (HP3)
  • 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

  • It is a mandatory requirement to be and to remain vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • Blue Card Check requirements.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • 6 month probation period.
  • All employees of the Mental Health Service Group may be required to work in other areas of the Service.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
