About your opportunity
Fixed Term Temporary 3-year contract as the Medical Director of Surgical Service Group with a permanent substantive position as a Staff Specialist in applicable specialty department. A minimum of 40 hours per fortnight is required for the Medical Director role, negotiable up to 80 hours per fortnight full-time. There will be opportunity to re-apply for subsequent 3 year appointments in the Medical Director position.

The Medical Director is responsible for leading and managing a team of medical staff within the Service Group towards the achievement of the THHS vision of increasing the health and wellbeing of people in the Townsville community through the delivery of safe, effective and sustainable care. The role represents a key area of medical leadership and will be expected to provide expert medical advice based on knowledge of contemporary medical models and best practice standards.

The Staff Specialist provides high quality clinical and non-clinical services, including research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future. The incumbent leads and manages the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the THHS and (QH) policies, in a hospital, community and outreach setting.

Generous pro rata remuneration package (based on full-time equivalent value) up to $522,648 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range between $204,206 - $258,910 p.a. (full-time) or $97.84 and $124.05 p.h. (part-time) (L18-L27).
  • 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • attraction and retention incentive allowance
  • regional and rural attraction allowance
  • motor vehicle allowance
  • professional development assistance (allowances and leave)

Plus Clinical Managers allowance (for 3 years).

Other employment benefits include: salary sacrificing options, shift and locality allowances, employee wellness and assistance programs, and access to corporate discounts. Assistance with relocation expenses may also be available.

Eligible health workers who move to Queensland from interstate or international jurisdictions to take up permanent employment may receive up to $20,000 in incentive payments under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme.

Requirements
Proof of qualification and Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
