The Townsville University Hospital Physiotherapy Department, sits within the Allied Health Services Division and is directed by a physiotherapist. Services are provided across the continuum of care to all patient groups across inpatient, outpatient and domiciliary settings. The department provides a twenty four hour service through an on-call and weekend roster.
Physiotherapists routinely work in intensive care, medical/surgical acute, musculoskeletal, rehabilitation, oncology, rural facilities, women’s and children’s areas, and community health. About your opportunity:
Fixed term temporary flexible opportunities available, hours negotiable
The position will:
- Deliver effective physiotherapy clinical services to an allocated inpatient and/or outpatient caseload as part of a multidisciplinary team primarily within the Townsville University Hospital and other service locations across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.
- Where the allocation is to the Townsville University Hospital, the position contributes to a 7-day, extended-hours physiotherapy (Emergency Department) and on-call service.
The ideal candidate will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
- Clinical Expertise - Demonstrated competent level of knowledge, expertise and skill in physiotherapy clinical practice.
- Communication - Demonstrated effective communication skills and an ability to work effectively as part of a single-discipline or a multidisciplinary health care team.
- Clinical Ability - Demonstrated ability to manage a clinical caseload under the clinical practice supervision of more senior physiotherapists; and to assess non-complex patients and interpret assessment findings to develop and implement safe and effective routine physiotherapy interventions.
- Leadership - Demonstrated ability or ability to rapidly acquire the skill to supervise assistant staff and contribute to the supervision of students on work experience or clinical placement.
What's on offer:
- Generous remuneration package value up to $132,730 p.a. comprising:
- Salary range of $2941.70 to $4459.00 p.f. (HP3)
- 4, 5, 6 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Candidate Requirements:
- Proof of qualification (Physiotherapy) and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
- Possession of class C drivers' licence.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
