We operate 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.

Townsville University Hospital, the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, provides specialist referral services for 700,000 people living in the region.

The Clinical Nurse will facilitate and provide nursing support to meet the needs of patients while ensuring the provision of best practice and quality patient care.

About the opportunity:

Position: Clinical Nurse

Vacancy: Fixed Term Temporary part-time, 56 hours p.f. from 07/02/2025 up to 20/07/2025 with possible extension not exceeding 12 months.

Location: Infectious Diseases Ward, Townsville University Hospital

To provide support, leadership, education and expert advice to patients, their families, and members of the multidisciplinary team on matters relating to Infectious Diseases to ensure the provision of best practice and quality patient care.

  • Salary range: $54.44 to $58.30 p.h. (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
  • Highly Desirable: Extensive experience with Infectious Diseases and a current Adult Life Support certificate.
  • Adult Life Support certificate: Must be able to obtain and then maintain an annual competency in Advanced Life Support as per THHSCLI040151 Life Support Training and Assessment (https://qheps.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0038/475778/thhscli040151.pdf)
  • Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
  • Probation period may apply.
