The Ipswich Hospital Emergency Department operates as a CSCF Level 4 facility providing 24-hour emergency care to all age groups. Ipswich Hospital provides initial treatment and definitive care for many emergency presentations and the resuscitation and stabilisation of emergencies prior to transfer or retrieval, when required. The service is supported by an on-site laboratory and medical imaging department with Computerised Tomography (CT) and Ultrasound capability and 24-hour emergency operating theatre access. Ipswich Hospital ED design supports contemporary models of care, including enhanced resuscitation areas, separate adult and paediatric acute treatment areas, fast track, ED short stay unit, and a co-located medical assessment and planning unit (MAPU).

About the role
To develop, lead and deliver patient centred nursing care within a dynamic Emergency environment at an advanced level based on the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Standards for Registered Nurses.
The Paediatric Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the Emergency Department and with other members of the health care team including consumers/carers, other health professionals, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies). This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to the Paediatric Emergency Department.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of Paediatrics delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
- Demonstrated ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards which impact on nursing practice.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain a positive workplace culture through role-modelling well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, engaging professionally with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff and manage delegated resources including prioritising needs and supporting day-to-day changes.
- Provide leadership to effectively plan, manage and evaluate health services and patient flows to achieve organisational goals including an understanding of the national emergency access target (NEAT).
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
