Parole Board Queensland
Our Community Board Members represent the diversity of our Queensland community, and we encourage applications from culturally, socially and geographically diverse backgrounds. You must have sound judgement, critical thinking skills, and positively contribute to the decision-making process of the Board. You will have demonstratable strong communication skills, be capable of utilising technology and understand you are part of team to deliver the functions of the Parole Board. Appointments are made under the Corrective Services Act 2006 and made for a period of not more than three years. Parole Board meetings are held in Brisbane, although provision may be made for appropriate remote working arrangements. Community Board Members are engaged on an 'as needed' basis.

The Board is responsible for determining:
- whether to grant or refuse applications for Parole orders;
- decisions to amend, suspend or cancel parole orders; and
- approval for a parolee to travel interstate or overseas.
A Community Board Member plays a vital role in the parole decision-making process by bringing a community perspective to the Board's deliberations. Appointed under the Corrective Services Act 2006, as a Community Board Member, you will contribute to public safety and rehabilitation outcomes by:
- Actively engaging in parole board meetings to consider multiple streams of parole matters including parole order applications, amendments, suspensions, and cancellations
- Having a strong knowledge of the Corrective Services Act 2006 and understanding the legislation underpinning parole decisions.
- Drawing on your own unique background, experiences and perspectives to contribute to board meeting discussions and strengthen the quality of board decisions.
- Demonstrating a commitment to community values in which public safety is prioritised whilst also understanding the appreciating the evidence around prisoner reintegration as an essential component of community safety.
- Being prepared for board meetings and collaborating respectfully with fellow board members, forming an influential contribution to meeting outcomes and appreciating diverse viewpoints.

This is a rolling recruitment process. CBMs are engaged on a sessional basis and remunerated in accordance with Remuneration Procedures for part-time chairs and members of Queensland Government bodies (Adjudication and Determination Level 3).
