The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Occupational Therapists/Psychologists/Social Workers – Senior (Mental Health) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 9000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to over 550,000 people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region.

This position supports children and young people from birth to 25 years, and their families, providing for continuity of care through community based mental health services. The position has a focus on personality disorder mental health needs as a key contributor to the Project Air strategy.

You will take responsibility for 

Applying specialised nursing knowledge to provide consumer focused and evidence based mental health clinical leadership and expertise at an advanced level including:

  • Coordinating evidence based clinical practice in leading positive consumer outcomes
  • Delivering assessment, consultation and specialised targeted intervention for mental health consumers
  • Contributing to the development of clinical practice procedures, protocols and quality and service improvement
  • Being a clinical expert resource to provide clinical governance, develop staff and champion proactive, contemporary mental health practice
  • Integrating and operationalising key objectives and strategies
  • Participating in clinical networks and working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrating advanced, broad and ethical mental health clinical practice
  • Administering Project Air Gold Card Intervention and provide high level evidence based training and consultation for health professionals, services and organisations who work with people with personality disorders

Requirements for the role

  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work
  • AHPRA or relevant professional board registration
  • Appointment or eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016

Salary information

  • Permanent full time and temporary full time (up to 12 months with possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $106 833 - $114 960 p.a., $4094.90 - $4406.40 p.f.
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is a free, confidential and voluntary service provided by Gold Coast Health. Our service is available to children and young people from birth to 25 years and their families who live in the Gold Coast region.

Our clinics offer multidisciplinary teams who are experienced in understanding and working with the emotional and behavioural problems facing children, young people and their families.

Specialist programs include the Project Air Strategy that provides specialised and enhanced treatment options for people with personality disorders, their families and carers.
