The role of Youth Co-Responder is to provide diversionary support to young offenders subject to youth justice intervention, or those at risk of entering the youth justice system, with the aim of preventing offending and reducing re-offending. The Youth Co-Responder will work collaboratively as part of the Youth Co-Responder Team (YCRT) comprising of the Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support and Queensland Police Service (QPS). The Youth Co-Responder will provide support and coordinate service delivery to ensure the required actions and referrals for young people at risk, are undertaken in a timely and efficient manner. This will require the Youth Co-Responder to work with dedicated QPS officers in unmarked police cars and in the office, to connect with young people and families, patrol hotspots and link in internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Director, Governance and Reporting Branch, you will be responsible for leading and managing a small team dedicated to administering an enterprise program of work that enables QFD to be a child safe organisation in accordance with the Act and associated Queensland government and national policies, and to deliver assurance that the department's legislative obligations are met. You will be responsible for the efficient end-to-end management of blue cards across the department, including role assessments, providing strategic advice, and case management, as well as developing and implementing policies, procedures, communications and improvement strategies. You will also be the primary agency liaison officer with Blue Card Services (the regulator) to ensure QFD's compliance with the Act.
