This is an Identified Position. For this position, it is a genuine occupational requirement that it be filled by an Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander person as permitted and arguable under Sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer provides advice to the Queensland Drug and Alcohol Court (QDAC) team on specific cultural and management issues, the development of culturally appropriate programs, services and practices that impact upon the management of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants on QDAC and other court programs. The role also involves provision of guidance and support, where appropriate, to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander defendants and participants, both in community and custodial settings engaged with both QDAC and the Court Link program.
