The Queensland Art Gallery / Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) seeks an Audio Visual and Lighting Coordinator to manage successful audio visual and lighting outcomes for exhibitions and displays and maintain and develop an inventory of relevant equipment to service the immediate and longer-term needs of the Gallery.
This role sits in the Design Section, reporting to the Design Manager and works closely with Exhibition Design, Workshop, Installation and Information Management and Technology teams.
This role supervises a number of casual audio visual and lighting staff engaged in response to the installation and maintenance requirements of the Gallery's exhibition and display program.

Responsibilities include:
- Design audio visual solutions for:
- The exhibition of artworks from the Collection and on loan to the Gallery
- Interactive experiences
- Digital signage and wayfinding
- Work closely with the in-house Exhibition Design team and casual lighting technicians to resolve solutions for the lighting of exhibitions and displays and oversee their installation.
- Work independently and in teams to provide audio visual and lighting design and specification advice and documentation as required to exhibition design project teams within this section.
- Provide instruction and guidance to installation and workshop staff relating to audio visual installations.
- Maintain and manage the storage and tracking the Gallery's inventory of lighting and audio visual equipment including preserving technology that is specifically required for AV works in the Collection.
- Engage in strategic planning, forecasting future audio-visual and lighting requirements, identifying opportunities to procure new equipment and ensuring that it will be adaptable across multiple exhibition programs. Provide input into project and operational budgets accordingly.
- Build and maintain a network of contacts with suppliers and other arts institutions to ensure that the Gallery remains up to date with emerging technologies and products.
- Liaise with project stakeholders including artists, curators and external lenders and engaging critically with audio-visual specifications to ensure that stakeholder expectations are balanced with available Gallery equipment, budget, safety and quality of presentation.
- Manage and coordinate casual audio-visual and lighting installation staff including rostering, task allocation, supervision and training. Identify opportunities to assist with installation activities, determining the appropriate balance of time between desk and floor work in consultation with manager.
- Develop operation manuals including troubleshooting guidelines for exhibitions and installation manuals for audio visual collection works ensuring clear communication and appropriate level of detail for end-users.
- Assess and manage risk for design project including managing the safety of the public, Gallery staff and artworks. Implement workplace health and safety policy within the section and develop and maintain work method statements for all typical installation activities reflecting best WH&S practice.
