Principal Plant Biosecurity Coordinator
Surveillance Control and Containment; Plant Biosecurity and Product Integrity; Biosecurity Queensland; Far North Queensland - flexible (Cairns, South Johnstone, Mareeba, Bamaga, Thursday Island)
We are looking for a Principal Plant Biosecurity Coordinator to join our high performing team at Biosecurity Queensland to:
• Work with key regional partners to develop geographically and culturally appropriate response strategies to pest and disease incursions in the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area.
• Protect Queensland’s environment and agricultural industries from exotic biosecurity threats before they establish in mainland production areas and ports.
• Join us and be a part of our ongoing prevention and response to biosecurity threats.

What you will do (key responsibilities/duties):
As our Principal Plant Biosecurity Coordinator, you will lead the development, implementation and delivery of stakeholder engagement strategies that influence behaviour change and boost advocacy to support the goals of the Northern Australia People Capacity and Response Network (NAPCaRN). With Queensland being affected by more biosecurity incursions than any other Australian state or territory, your efforts will be integral in helping the government prevent, respond toand recover from biosecurity concerns that threaten our environment and economy.
You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:
• Are dedicated to bolstering Indigenous and industry plant biosecurity response capability in far northern Queensland communities.
• Can manage your own work priorities, ensuring assigned tasks are undertaken promptly and meet the project deliverables.
• Are actively contributing as a member of a high-performing team.
