- contributing high level technical understanding of local biosecurity issues tonstrategic planning.

Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) is one of the integral DAF business groups, leading the government's efforts to prevent, respond to and recover from pests and diseases threating agricultural prosperity, the environment, social amenity and human health.

We achieve this by maintaining access to markets, protecting animal welfare and reducing the risk of contamination from agricultural management.

Animal Biosecurity and Welfare (ABW) - ABW supports BQ's efforts to prevent, respond to and recover from diseases threatening livestock industries and maintaining access to market. Our people work together to help mitigate biosecurity risks, uphold standards for animal welfare and animal management and lead the overall DAF response to biosecurity emergency incidents to achieve outcomes consistent with the Department's strategic direction for leadership in animal welfare, exhibited animal, animal management and animal ethics policy and service delivery.
