A new interim Food Farmers' Commissioner of QLD has been appointed to
work closely with food producers to:
• improve price transparency
• help redress the imbalance between producers and supermarkets
• provide a safe environment for complaints to be considered and advocated.
The Food Farmers’ Commissioner of Queensland will also advocate for key developments in the national arrangements governing the relationships between supermarkets and food farmers.

About the role
A new interim Food Farmers' Commissioner of Queensland has been appointed to work closely with food producers to:
• improve price transparency
• help redress the imbalance between producers and supermarkets
• provide a safe environment for complaints to be considered and advocated.
The Food Farmers' Commissioner of Queensland will also advocate for key developments in the national arrangements governing the relationships between supermarkets and food farmers.
To support the role of the Commissioner, as our Senior Policy Officer, you will:
• Support the development, coordination and presentation of analysis, options and recommendations on key policy issues affecting food producers e.g. price transparency, pricing imbalances and food producer complaints management.
• Undertake industry and data research to progress policy management activities of the Office of the Food Farmers' Commissioner.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal government and external industry stakeholders, including the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and supermarket Code Arbiters.
• Prepare timely, well-researched and high-quality reports, submissions, briefing notes and correspondence.
• Represent the Office of the Food Farmers' Commissioner or the department in a range of forums and meetings.
• Assist in the development, management and implementation of projects, initiatives and events in support of the work of the Commissioner.
• Support the professional delivery and coordinate administrative activities for the Office of the Food Farmers' Commissioner liaising with departmental staff for operational requirements as needed.
You may also have
• Experience in policy development and/or researching complex issues concerning agricultural industry supply chain is desirable.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement is desirable.
• An understanding of specific agricultural industries and the broader Queensland food and agribusiness sector, and issues impacting on sustainability and growth of the sector, is desirable.
