We are looking for a Manager, Human Resources to join our team to:
• Champion and lead contemporary human resource management in Biosecurity Queensland.
• Provide high-level human resource advice and support to biosecurity programs in line with whole of government priorities, initiatives and requirements.

As our Manager, Human Resources, you will be responsible for driving high-level leadership and strategy to support the Deputy Director General, General Managers, Directors, and leadership team. You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:
• Maintain awareness of emerging human resource drivers and provide strategic input on impediments, approaches, innovative solutions and opportunities.
• Undertake high-quality analysis of complex human resource data, trends and information to identify and implement contemporary solutions that achieve the Biosecurity Queensland objectives.
• Effectively advocate for Biosecurity Queensland's interests and provide advice to support programs on human resource matters.
• Are actively and positively contributing as a member within your team, and the broader Biosecurity Queensland.
You will:
• Provide key leadership and strategy to support the Deputy Director General, General Managers, Directors, and leadership team to deliver human resource strategy and operations across a broad range of areas including, organisational design, workforce planning and reporting, recruitment and selection, with a particular focus on industrial and employee relations.
• Analyse human resource risk and/or opportunity, interrogate data, and undertake research to generate options and solutions consistent with contemporary human resource best practice.
• Advise on awards, industrial instruments, directives, and entitlements in order to provide high level strategic and tactical direction to resolve complex workforce and employee matters with the General Manager and leadership team members.
• Using advanced skills in consultation and collaboration, develop and implement a Communications Plan to facilitate the change management plan leading to a capable and sustainable future ready workforce.
• Ensure the efficient organisation and operation of the HR team in the delivery of services for the program.
• Actively build executive and leadership team member skills and capabilities through effective training, development and coaching activities and opportunities.
• Strengthen relationships and create working partnerships and a high level of understanding of client needs to facilitate quality human resource management practices that support the workforce.
• Prepare high level reports, submissions, briefing notes and other correspondence of a substantial and complex nature in relation to a range of human resources issues.
• Present and facilitate briefings and workshops for management and staff where required.
• Contribute to the evaluation of human resources services and initiatives to ensure these are prioritised and directed to support program outcomes.
• Build stakeholder relationships to ensure human resource activities and outcomes are aligned to program and government priorities and initiatives.
• Maintain good knowledge of contemporary human resource management practices to ensure currency of knowledge and skills and service outcomes for clients.
You may also have:
• While not mandatory, a relevant qualification in human resources/ employee relations from a recognised tertiary institution, would be well regarded.
• For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework. The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training can assist with these assessments for Queensland residents.
