Macropod Management; Permissions Management & Ecotourism; Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships; Charleville, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Southern Qld. Other locations may be negotiated.

The Manager, Macropod Management Unit works within the Permissions Management and Ecotourism Branch of Queensland Parks and Wildlife and Partnerships (QPWS&P). This role will lead a team based in multiple locations (Charleville, Toowoomba and Brisbane) that regulates the sustainable harvest of macropods in Queensland.
QPWS&P proactively manages and monitors environmental risks through a modern and innovative regulatory framework that includes assessment, compliance, investigation and enforcement programs and leads and oversees the day-to-day management of the team tasked with managing the sustainable harvest of macropods across Queensland. The commercial and non commercial harvesting of macropods involves taking animals from the wild to be utilised. Commercially harvested macropods are used to produce high quality leather and meat products for the domestic and international markets.

For this role, you'll need to:
• Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, the Department's strategic agenda, and the capacity to support and promote the same, including communicating associated goals and objectives to team members.
• Proven strong leadership and management skills at strategic and operational levels through establishing clear plans and timeframes for project implementation and responding in a positive and flexible manner to change and uncertainty.
• Demonstrated high level consultation skills with a proven ability to establish networks, build and sustain productive relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including authority applicants, authority holders, local government agencies, Traditional Owners and their representative bodies, State and Commonwealth government agencies, industry stakeholders and special interest groups.
• Proven ability to implement business improvement in relation to annual compliance program and aerial population surveys,
• Acting professionally at all times whilst operating within the boundaries of organisational processes, legal and public policy constraints.
• Proven ability to present messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner and to approach negotiations with a clear understanding of the issues, having anticipated
other parties' expectations and concerns.
• Role model Manager leadership behaviours as outlined in the Leadership competencies for Queensland.
• Contribute to workplace safety, equity, diversity, respect and inclusion by bringing your unique experiences and perspectives.

This position is available Charleville, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Southern Qld. Other locations may be negotiated, please indicate your location preference for this role on your application.
