Provide advanced clinical services, leadership and direction within the interprofessional team. Clinical activities include assessment, diagnostic formulation, brief intervention, leadership in the development of positive behaviour support plans, support for care coordination of the primary treating team and community services discharge support for people living with disability who present with complex and challenging behaviours and mental health comorbidity.

The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Psychologist or Neuropsychologist - Advanced (Intellectual Development Disability) join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Apply advanced and highly specialised knowledge and evidence based clinical management principles of cognitive, developmental, neurological, psychiatric and sensory disabilities for patients
  • Deliver advanced level psychological or neuropsychological assessment, formulation, brief intervention, positive behaviour support planning
  • Provide expert guidance to service planning and lead implementation of evidence based reviews and service evaluation activities to support continuous quality improvement
  • Contribute to clinical governance and professional competence, providing advanced training and supervision to psychologists, psychology registrars and higher education students 

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A tertiary degree in Psychology
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Driver Licence
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $144 991 - $151 289 per annum

The Gold Coast Intellectual, Developmental Disability Mental Health Service is a specialist community based service that provides specialist healthcare to young people and adults with complex neurodevelopmental conditions such as intellectual disability, autism, congenital neurocognitive conditions who present with significant moderate to severe emotional and behavioural difficulties, including co-occurring mental health disorders.
