The role of Senior People and Culture Officer works collaboratively across EWOQ providing a high level of generalist HR advice and support on legislation and policies and their application in the EWOQ workplace.

Focus areas for the role are HR governance and HR continuous improvement projects.

To be successful in this role you will be required to:

  • Develop and implement contemporary HR policy and continuously review and improve existing policies and HR practices in response to public sector and employment changes and requirements.
  • Develop content, procedures and other resources to support the HR policy framework and inform EWOQ team members of their responsibilities and entitlementsDevelop and implement innovative and effective solutions that address HR issues and meet organisational needs.
  • In collaboration with the PCC team and leadership group, identify opportunities to enhance the employee experience across the employee lifecycle and develop and implement strategies accordingly.
  • Provide generalist HR advisory and consultancy services to employees, managers, executive management and the Energy and Water Ombudsman in relation to:
    • employment conditions and benefits 
    • recruitment and selection practices and processes
    • employee engagement strategies
    • employee performance management and development
  • Administer our annual employee satisfaction survey, communicate results and participate in and lead strategies to positively impact results.
  • Prepare submissions, reports, briefing materials, and correspondence.
  • Liaise with our shared service provider, Corporate Administration Agency (CAA) and other agencies on any matters regarding relevant legislation and the operations of the HR function.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and business excellence through sharing ideas for improvements in relevant functional areas.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups to ensure ongoing collaboration and sharing.
  • Help foster a productive and positive workplace culture through behaviour and concrete actions and demonstrate the values and priorities of the EWOQ in everyday work.
