The Deputy Under Treasurer for the Energy and Government Owned Corporations (GOCs) group is a pivotal leadership role within Queensland Treasury, guiding the state's approach to the delivery of affordable, reliable and sustainable energy supply. The role offers the opportunity to influence transformative policies and programs across the energy landscape while ensuring Queensland harnesses economic opportunities and supports government priorities.
In this role, you will oversee the development of regulatory frameworks and ensure strong linkages between industry stakeholders, government agencies, and customers. You will also provide authoritative advice to senior executives, the Under Treasurer, and Shareholding Ministers on achieving reliable and affordable energy supply for Queensland's future.
Additionally, the position requires strategic oversight of the performance of Government Owned Corporations (GOCs) to ensure alignment with Queensland's energy transition and long-term economic strategy.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the development and implementation of energy strategies, programs, and regulatory frameworks that drive productivity, sustainability, and innovation.
- Deliver high-level advice, analysis, and guidance on government policy initiatives, focusing on sustainable energy supply as well as overseeing the critical role of gas and industry in energy and economic decision-making.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry representatives, and community groups.
- Represent the Queensland Government and Treasury in critical forums, ensuring outcomes align with energy-sector goals and government objectives.
- Provide strategic oversight and advice on the management of GOCs across energy, water, transport, and financial sectors to enable government priorities.
What experience you will bring:
- You understand the complexities of policy, regulatory, and commercial challenges within the energy sector and have led transformative initiatives that make a tangible impact.
- You have significant executive-level experience in energy, GOCs, government, or a related industry, with a strong track record of delivering strategic outcomes.
- You have proven your ability to guide complex, dynamic organisations toward meaningful results, adapting to challenges with agility and effectiveness.
- Your judgement is sound, your integrity is unwavering, and you thrive in high pressure environments, demonstrating exceptional adaptability and a strong drive to succeed.
- You excel at building relationships and consensus, using your exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders across all sectors.
