Biosecurity Queensland plays a vital role in securing the state's agricultural prosperity and preserving and protecting the health of our environment and economy. We are dedicated to safeguarding both human and animal health by preventing and mitigating plant and animal pests and diseases. We work tirelessly to uphold a high level of animal welfare standards and maintain access to interstate markets, critical for Queensland's thriving primary industries. Biosecurity Queensland monitors and regulates the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, ensuring they are used safely and in compliance with legislation. With a commitment to developing capabilities and preparedness, we are at the forefront of protecting Queensland against biosecurity risks.
Invasive Plants and Animals significantly affect the environment, agricultural production, infrastructure, human health and our way of life in general. The IP&A Program directs, facilitates and delivers strategic and targeted action to reduce the impact of invasive species in Queensland.
As a senior principal biosecurity officer, you will deliver operational services that protect Queensland from the impacts of high-risk invasive species. With Queensland being affected by more biosecurity incursions than any other Australian state or territory, your efforts will be integral in helping the government prevent, respond to and recover from invasive species that threaten human health, social amenity, our economy, and environment.
You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:
• are dedicated to mitigating the impacts of invasive species on Queensland's economy and environment.
• working effectively to prevent the establishment of invasive species and supporting stakeholders to manage invasive species.
• are effectively leading and managing a high-performing team.
It is a requirement for all Biosecurity Queensland positions to have a criminal history check completed.
Applications to remain current for 12 months.
