Senior Project Officer

This role will primarily help plan and deliver significant, high-profile projects as part of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service capital works and infrastructure maintenance programs. This position works within the Capital Delivery team providing a range of Project Management services to ensure a consistent and high standard approach to asset management within protected area and forest management. You will work closely with other managers and staff within Asset Services, and across Regions/Branches.
The position will assist with project planning, procurement, contract administration, project management, contractor liaison and other support necessary to implement the QPWS capital works and maintenance programs for infrastructure on parks and forests. The position will be required to update data and provide advice to staff on using IT systems that support the capital works.

As the Senior Project Officer, you will:
• Participate in a multi-disciplinary team to develop, implement, and review asset management projects.
• Provide advice to QPWS staff on capital works and infrastructure maintenance programs.
• Research and analyse information, and prepare correspondence, reports, briefings and submissions regarding the development, progress and delivery of key projects and issues relating to asset management.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders including QPWS regions, other divisions, state and local governments, recreation and tourism industry stakeholders relating to asset management and provide advice as required.
• Assist in ensuring capital project compliance within legislation, government approvals, specification, and QPWS&P policies and procedures, including environmental protection, Work Health and Safety and relevant licences.
• Participate as a proactive member of Asset Services.
• Assist the Unit Manager to represent QPWS in industry forums, interdepartmental and other committees.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
