Delivering Better Journeys for Queensland
Luminary is proud to partner with Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to appoint the General Manager, Passenger Transport Services of the Translink Division. This is a senior executive opportunity to lead a high-impact portfolio central to the daily lives of millions of Queenslanders.
Translink, a division of TMR, plays a vital role in coordinating and enabling an integrated, efficient and accessible passenger transport system. From city buses and ferries to long-distance coach and aviation services, the Passenger Transport Services Branch oversees multi-modal contracts, funding programs and service partnerships across Queensland's diverse geographies.
What You'll Lead
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General of Translink, the General Manager, Passenger Transport Services will lead a state-wide portfolio spanning public transport operations, contract negotiation and service optimisation. This includes oversight of $1.15B in contracted delivery arrangements and leadership of approximately 215 employees.
You'll lead high-value relationships with private sector operators, local governments and regional delivery partners to ensure safe, reliable and value-for-money services across bus, ferry, light rail, long-distance coach and aviation. With major population growth, Olympic readiness planning and customer expectations evolving, this role is pivotal to ensuring Queensland's public transport network remains connected, resilient and future-focused.
Key priorities will include:
- Lead the delivery of Queensland's contracted passenger transport services across all modes
- Negotiate and manage complex commercial arrangements with multiple providers
- Provide strategic advice to the Minister, Director-General and senior executives on system-wide operations
- Foster a customer-first culture across a large and diverse workforce
- Enable service innovation and collaboration to meet growing and changing transport demand.
Who We're Seeking
You are a highly capable senior executive with demonstrated experience leading large-scale service delivery and contractual partnerships in complex environments. With commercial insight and a deep understanding of passenger transport systems, you will bring clarity, reform and customer focus to a vital portfolio.
You will bring:
- Extensive executive experience in public or contracted service delivery environments
- A proven track record in complex contract negotiation and performance oversight
- Strong financial and operational management capabilities
- An ability to influence stakeholders across government, industry and communities
- Exceptional leadership capability to drive organisational performance and cultural alignment.
If you are ready to lead public transport at scale, we look forward to hearing from you. TMR is committed to reconciliation and creating a workplace that empowers Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples to thrive. We strongly encourage applicants from all life experiences and backgrounds to apply.
