An exciting opportunity exists for a Director, Safety and Wellbeing to join us at the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service. This position is a critical professional leadership role that provides authoritative strategic health and safety, respiratory protection fit testing, occupational violence, rehabilitation, injury management and wellbeing (including psychosocial) direction and advice to senior executives, senior managers and staff in the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service to ensure a continued commitment to safe systems of work and compliance with relevant legislation.

Sunshine Coast Health is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service Safety and Wellbeing team inclusive of fostering and encouraging a workplace environment which is outcomes focused and instils a culture of continuous improvement through effective communication, training, and contemporary workforce management practices.
  • Provide authoritative strategic advice to members of the Executive and other leaders in the organisation regarding their safety and wellbeing obligations, areas of strategic risk and recommended strategies to address which recognise the service delivery context and wider resource management context of public health.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Executive Director Workforce and other members of the Executive, and work as a high-level business partner with Managers and other key stakeholders across the Health Service.
  • Ensure the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service alignment to the Department of Health's Integrated Safety Management System to achieve consistency of strategies, service delivery arrangements and performance outcomes evidenced through implementation and management of an operational plan.

Remuneration value up to $208 169 p.a., comprising salary between $169 261 - $182 579 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HSO).
