Your new role:
As the Nurse Practitioner (Addictions – Alcohol and Other Drugs), you will play a pivotal role in delivering and coordinating comprehensive, patient-centred care within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
You'll provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, and treatment for clients experiencing substance use issues, while leading nurse-led models of care and driving continuous improvement in service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management for individuals with AOD concerns.
- Prescribe medications and implement evidence-based interventions aligned with the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to enhance integrated care and improve patient outcomes.
- Lead quality improvement, guideline development, and research initiatives to strengthen clinical practice.
- Mentor and educate staff, supporting a culture of lifelong learning and professional growth.
- Promote coordinated, compassionate, and cost-effective care that supports patient recovery and wellbeing.
About you:
You're an experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner who combines advanced clinical knowledge with strong leadership and collaboration skills. You are passionate about improving outcomes for individuals affected by alcohol and other drugs and thrive in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.
You will bring:
- Current registration with NMBA as a Nurse Practitioner (Master's level qualification and NP endorsement required).
- Demonstrated advanced clinical expertise in AOD or mental health, with a minimum of 5 years' experience.
- Proven ability to deliver evidence-based care across complex and evolving clinical situations.
- High-level communication, consultation, and negotiation skills.
- Commitment to person-centred care, continuous improvement, and innovation in addiction services.
- A current Class C driver's licence and willingness to work across multiple sites as required.
- Vaccination compliance as per Queensland Health employment requirements.

Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services (MSAMHS) provide inpatient, hospital-based and community mental health and community Alcohol and Drug Services for all age groups across a number of campuses. The service is committed to the provision of services that at patient centred and recovery focussed.
The Nurse Practitioner role will work to deliver Queensland Opioid Dependence Treatment (QODT) and other treatments within the Addictions Community setting.
