The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is seeking two PO5 Crown Prosecutors to join the Townsville team in a temporary full-time role from date of commencement for a period of 12 months with possibility of extension.
In this role, you’ll represent the Crown in superior court trials and complex criminal proceedings, including circuit work across Queensland. You’ll also mentor and support the professional development of legal and administrative staff, contributing to a collaborative and rewarding environment.

About your opportunity:
Step into a challenging and rewarding role with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, where you'll play a critical part in delivering justice for Queensland. As a Crown Prosecutor, you will:
- Appear as lead counsel in a variety of criminal proceedings, including superior court trials.
- Provide authoritative advice to the Director of Public Prosecutions on complex matters of criminal law and evidence.
- Exercise independent discretion to initiate, vary, or discontinue serious criminal charges.
- Communicate persuasively with a wide range of stakeholders, including judges, defence counsel, solicitors, police officers, witnesses, victims of crime, and court officials.
- Mentor, supervise, and inspire the professional development of legal officers and support staff.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving ODPP practices and processes.
- Address the needs of victims of crime with empathy and professionalism.

Mandatory requirements:
Admission as a Legal Practitioner in a State or Territory of Australia (please provide your admission date).
