Blue Card Services is seeking a motivated and experienced Manager, Eligibility Assessment to lead our dedicated team of professional officers within the Eligibility Assessment Team. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of Queensland's children and young people by overseeing employment screening decisions and regulatory matters under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000.

What you'll do:

As the Manager of the Eligibility Assessment Team, you will:

  • Lead and inspire a team of professional officers, providing strategic and operational guidance to ensure high-quality, consistent, and accurate assessments.
  • Make a difference by approving and documenting regulatory decisions that are evidence-based, defensible, and in the best interests of children and vulnerable people.
  • Drive performance by planning, organising, and managing team responsibilities to meet and exceed key performance indicators.
  • Foster a positive culture by creating a professional, collaborative, and inclusive environment that supports staff wellbeing, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Be a trusted advisor by providing expert advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on assessments, appeals, and regulatory matters.
  • Represent Blue Card Services in interagency forums and committees, contributing to initiatives that protect the rights and wellbeing of children and young people across Queensland.
  • Shape the future by advising the Director on strategic policy and operational trends to enhance service delivery and maintain the integrity of our processes.

What we're looking for:

To excel in this role, you'll bring:

  • A strong understanding of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 and other relevant legislation.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to guide, mentor, and manage a high-performing team.
  • Proven expertise in interpreting technical and legal documents, including police information, and making sound, evidence-based decisions.
  • Outstanding organisational skills to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • A commitment to fostering workplace equity, diversity, respect, and inclusion.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, contributing to a culture of excellence and integrity.
