The Opportunity
About the role
As our Principal Strategy and Governance Advisor, you will:
• Prepare and deliver high-quality, timely, and evidence-based advice to senior departmental officers, statutory bodies, and key stakeholders on governance, oversight, and strategic matters.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of government priorities, identifying risks, issues, and solutions to ensure the achievement of objectives and compliance with governance frameworks.
• Prepare high-quality written material, for example ministerial, executive, and cabinet-related reports, briefs, correspondence, and submissions (including parliamentary questions and estimates processes) for the Minister, Director-General, and senior departmental officers, ensuring alignment with government policy and strategic directions.
• Conduct confidential research, critical analysis, and evidence-based policy development to address whole-of-government priorities, emerging issues, and statutory obligations.
• Provide strategic thinking and professional judgement on all deliverables, ensuring they meet quality standards, align with governance requirements, and support the monitoring and evaluation of policy initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with statutory bodies, internal and external partners, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, collaboration, and alignment on governance, oversight, and strategic priorities.
• Provide strategic support to the Executive Director and Deputy Director-General (Corporate) on key initiatives, projects, and governance-related matters.
