Southern Region Command, Custodial Operations Division is responsible for the delivery of custodial services across Queensland. People in custody are supervised in either high or low security correctional centres. High security centres provide for the management of adult prisoners held in secure custody correctional centres across Queensland.

In this role you will manage offenders, and coordinate and monitor the operations of a correctional team.
The primary accountabilities of the Correctional Supervisor include:
- Manage a team of correctional officers and provide leadership to ensure the provision of services to offenders.
- Ensure day to day operations occur in accordance with relevant legislative requirements.
- Contribute to the development of effective teams.
- Monitor performance and standards of service delivery for staff under your supervision.
- Ensure the security and effective management and supervision of offenders in accordance with operating procedures and Agency procedures.
- Contribute to the provision of a safe environment for staff, visitors and offenders.
- Maintain an effective system of static and dynamic security in the area, including ensuring the ongoing operation and periodic evaluation of all surveillance equipment and infrastructure.
- Assume responsibility for the centre's operation outside of business hours.
- Participate as an effective team member in the development and implementation of the centre's operational plans.
- Participate in and contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of case and sentence management for offenders.

Within the context of the role accountabilities described in About the Role, the most suitable applicant will demonstrate their applied knowledge, skills and experiences against these essential role requirements of the Team Leader leadership stream:
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Lead and manage small teams;
- Provide oversight, deliver workflow management and to prioritise and allocate work tasks appropriately; and
- Use judgement and develop and employ appropriate risk mitigation strategies
- Ability to apply and interpret legislation, policy and procedures.
- Experience and understanding of case management in a human services field.
- Decision making and reasoning involving gathering information, evaluating a variety of solutions, and selecting the best option, working ethically, working under pressure and demonstrating resilience.
- Self-management or self-control with the ability to manage your personal feelings and reactions to challenges on the job.
- Teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with people of different ages, gender and cultural backgrounds. In addition, demonstrated ability to collaborate and contribute to team results.
- Information technology skills at a basic level which includes the ability to navigate websites and utilise Microsoft Office software in addition to a capability to learn the use of internal offender management databases.
- Planning and organising abilities to ensure tasks are completed within the required deadlines and in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures within the correctional environment.
- Problem solving skills with the ability to apply a range of problem solving strategies and show initiative in identifying and solving problems both independently and as a team member.
- Communication skills as demonstrated through the ability to listen understand and speak clearly to a wide range of audiences. Written skills with the ability to summarise information and data.
