Biosecurity Queensland plays a vital role in securing the state's agricultural prosperity and preserving and protecting the health of our environment and economy. We are dedicated to safeguarding both human and animal health by preventing and mitigating plant and animal pests and diseases. We work tirelessly to uphold a high level of animal welfare standards and maintain access to interstate markets, critical for Queensland's thriving primary industries. Biosecurity Queensland monitors and regulates the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, ensuring they are used safely and in compliance with legislation. With a commitment to developing capabilities and preparedness, we are at the forefront of protecting Queensland against biosecurity risks.

Invasive Plants and Animals (IPA) significantly affect the environment, agricultural production, infrastructure, human health and our way of life in general. The IPA program directs, facilitates and delivers strategic and targeted action to reduce the impact of invasive species in Queensland.

As a Senior Project Officer you will:
• Be part of a team of data management specialists who will implement enhanced data collection, management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and reporting capabilities which support invasive species management in Queensland.
• Identify improvements to the established data management practices which meet the needs of relevant internal and external stakeholders by establishing strong professional partnerships and project management principles.
• Demonstrate strong skills in project management, documenting system specifications, and training others in their use.

While formal qualifications are not a requirement of the role, a diploma or degree in IT systems or environmental science may be highly regarded.

You will have a keen eye for detail, great time management and organisational skills, and be able to develop strong professional networks. More than anything, you will have a positive attitude and make a great contribution to our close-knit and connected team.
