Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) is seeking a dedicated Senior Case Manager (Identified) to join Sentence Management Services (SMS) at Townsville Correctional Complex. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to culturally informed case management and play a central role in supporting individuals throughout their sentence journey.
About the Role
As a Senior Case Manager, you will play a critical role in assessing risk and need, developing engagement plans, and coordinating whole of sentence case management to support rehabilitation and reintegration. You will be the primary contact for individuals in custody, working closely with families, community networks, service providers, custodial staff, and the Parole Board Queensland.
Key responsibilities include:
• Complete validated risk and needs assessments.
• Develop individual Engagement Plans using a strengths based, trauma informed approach.
• Manage a diverse caseload, including individuals with complex needs.
• Prepare high quality reports to inform parole decisions.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders, families and community networks.
• Support effective transitions between custody and community.
• Apply cultural knowledge to engage respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.
What We're Looking For
The ideal applicant will demonstrate the following essential capabilities:
• Experience in criminal justice or the ability to rapidly learn legislation and operational policy.
• Strong assessment and case management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Sound judgement and decision making capability.
• Adaptability in a fast paced correctional environment.
• Understanding of issues influencing the over representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in custody.
• Ability to build positive working relationships across teams and stakeholders.
Mandatory Requirements
• This is an Identified position for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants.
• Ability to work across multiple sites if required.
• Commitment to ongoing training, including accreditation in validated offender assessment tools.
