Biosecurity Queensland plays a vital role in securing the state's agricultural prosperity and preserving and protecting the health of our environment and economy. We are dedicated to safeguarding both human and animal health by preventing and mitigating plant and animal pests and diseases. We work tirelessly to uphold a high level of animal welfare standards and maintain access to interstate markets, critical for Queensland's thriving primary industries. Biosecurity Queensland monitors and regulates the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, ensuring they are used safely and in compliance with legislation. With a commitment to developing capabilities and preparedness, we are at the forefront of protecting Queensland against biosecurity risks.
Strategy, Investment and Performance (SIP) delivers a range of services to support Biosecurity Queensland (BQ). SIP partners with BQ program areas to provide
specialised advice on best business practice and technology to serve internal (and sometimes external) customers and business stakeholders.
As a Senior Project Officer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering projects that strengthen Queensland's biosecurity response capabilities. You will work closely with
stakeholders to design and implement initiatives that improve preparedness, resilience, and recovery efforts. You will:
• Facilitate response planning workshops, disaster management exercises, and training to enhance readiness and build stakeholder capability.
• Develop bespoke biosecurity response readiness resources and promote an allhazards approach to biosecurity threats.
• Leverage behavioural research to inform strategic approaches for managing biosecurity incident impacts and resilience challenges.
We are looking for a proactive and results-driven professional with a passion for disaster and biosecurity response. The ideal candidate will have:
• Demonstrated experience in disaster or biosecurity response environments.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to scope, plan, and deliver medium-sized projects or multiple smaller projects.
• Exceptional communication and facilitation skills to engage with stakeholders and deliver impactful workshops and training.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and achieving outcomes in dynamic environments.
It is a requirement for all Biosecurity Queensland positions to have a criminal history check completed.
