Join the Professional Standards and Governance Command (PSGC) within Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) and help build a culture of professionalism, integrity, and continuous improvement. Professional Standards and Governance Command (PSGC) ensures that the community has confidence that QCS as a top tier public safety agency is delivering professional corrective services through a competent and confident workforce supported by strong and ethical leadership. As the Senior Adviser, you will play a key role in operational service delivery and strategic direction, assisting in the development and enhancement of operational practices across the Agency. You'll be responsible for providing expert guidance on operational policies and practices, supporting knowledge sharing and alignment of policy frameworks, and assisting in the review and development of legislatively compliant policies, guidelines, and procedures.
In this role, you will collaborate with Directors within the command to complete review activities, monitor and report on compliance issues, and contribute to recommendations for practice improvement. You will prepare complex written submissions, policy documents, reports, briefings, and presentations, and participate in operational strategy development and implementation. Staying current with emerging trends, legislation, and policy changes is essential, as is managing quality management processes to ensure compliance with legislative and agency standards. To succeed, you should demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of government and QCS strategic directions, strong written communication skills, and proficiency in interpreting legislation and policies. Analytical skills, relationship management, organisational abilities, and experience in continuous improvement processes will ensure you support operational reviews leading to compliant amendments and enhancements. Flexibility to work outside normal hours, travel, and adapt to alternate locations is required.
