Bellenden Ker State School is searching for a reliable and motivated Cleaner to join our team. The successful applicant will take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work. This role requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a willingness to follow established procedures and directions.

This position is being offered in a Permanent Part-Time capacity (0.32FTE), 24 hours per fortnight. (This role may be suitable for job sharing, with hours shared between two successful applicants)

About our School:

Set on the foothills of Mt Bellenden Ker, Bellenden Ker State School is situated 12 kilometres north of Babinda and around 35 kilometres south of Cairns on the Bruce Highway. The school has been a part of the local community since 1922 and is committed to helping all students achieve their full potential. About the Role:

  • Contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the site by providing a high level of cleaning support.
  • Ensure that the duties prescribed for the position are completed to an acceptable standard as determined by their supervisor, in accordance with the approved school cleaning program.

The successful applicant will take pride in their work, demonstrate excellent attention to detail, be reliable and punctual, work effectively both independently and as part of a team, follow directions, and bring a positive attitude and strong work ethic to the role. Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential.  Training and support will be provided for the right applicant.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean windows, doors, glass surfaces, fixtures, furniture and fittings
  • Clean and sanitise toilets and sick bay areas
  • Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing and polishing
  • Remove rubbish, litter and debris, including clearing drains
  • Dust surfaces including furniture, equipment and fans
  • Carry out outdoor cleaning such as paved and concrete areas and graffiti removal
  • Perform basic maintenance of cleaning equipment
  • Lock and unlock buildings and assist with security procedures as required
  • Report safety, security or maintenance issues to the relevant staff
  • Undertake other cleaning duties as directed
