Insurance Services Officer

Join the QBCC as an Insurance Services Officer, supporting the effective delivery of the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme (QHWS). In this role you will play a key part in ensuring customers receive accurate, timely and consistent support across a range of services related to the administration of the QHWS. This opportunity offers exposure to a regulated environment where your work contributes to the compliant administration of the QHWS to ensure it achieves its purpose of protecting homeowners and maintaining confidence in Queensland’s residential construction industry. This is a full-time temporary role to April 2027, with the possibility of extension.

About the role
As Insurance Services Officer, you will be responsible for administering home warranty insurance policies and delivering clear and accurate advice to customers. You will work across a range of enquiries and transactions, ensuring stakeholders understand their obligations under the QHWS and QBCC's obligations in relation to administering the scheme. You will operate in a fast-paced, team-based environment where accuracy, consistency and customer experience are critical.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing advice and guidance to licensees and homeowners on enquiries related to the Home Warranty Scheme
- Managing policy amendments and cancellations in accordance with legislative requirements
- Conducting insurance checks to confirm coverage on residential properties
- Processing premium payments and managing follow-up actions for outstanding or failed payments
- Reviewing complex requests and determining appropriate outcomes aligned with policy and legislation

About you
You are customer-focused and confident explaining complex information in a simple, practical way. You enjoy working with a diverse range of stakeholders and are comfortable applying rules or legislation to real-world situations.
You will demonstrate:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear advice to both licensees and homeowners – comfortable dealing with challenging conversations.
- Proven customer service capability and sound judgement
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation or policy to enquiries
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and investigate further.
- Systems agility and attention to detail when managing transactions
- A collaborative and supportive approach within a team environment
Experience in insurance or exposure to the residential construction sector will be well regarded but not essential.
