Senior Finance Officer

The Finance and Asset Unit within the Reform and Support Services (RSS) branch of Court and Tribunal Services (CATS) is seeking a dedicated professional to contribute to the delivery of financial operations, assurance, and strategic outcomes. This role is responsible for coordinating divisional budget builds, accruals, and deferrals, while providing technical financial advice and support to branches. Key functions include preparing accrual journals, supporting monthly financial monitoring and forecasting, and analysing end-of-month financial data. The position also involves developing operational procedures to enhance efficiency, fostering strong stakeholder relationships, and participating in interdepartmental engagements to support the delivery of a contemporary and accessible justice system.

Your key responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and delivery of divisional budget builds, accruals, and deferrals, including the provision of technical advice and support to branches.
  • Support branches to undertake monthly financial monitoring and forecasting.
  • Coordinate and prepare accrual journals to ensure accurate representation of monthly financial positions.
  • Support the preparation and analysis of divisional end of month financial monitoring and forecasting in consultation with branches.
  • Develop operational procedures to support efficient and effective delivery of financial activities.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders and participate in interdepartmental meetings as required.
  • Undertake other duties as required, i.e. assist in preparation of costing and other financial information.

Technical skills, abilities and cultural capability

  • Working knowledge and experience in financial and accounting processes.
  • Documents processes to enable the efficient and effective coordination of financial activities.
  • Analyses complex financial information to support the identification of trends and issues and propose solutions.
  • Provides financial support to branches to facilitate monthly financial monitoring and forecasting.
  • Maintains contacts and networks with appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Performs well in a fast paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Contributes to workplace equity, diversity, respect and inclusion.
