The Department of Justice is seeking a Chief Digital Officer to drive the strategic direction and delivery of digital services across Courts and Tribunals. Reporting to the Assistant Director-General, you will lead a significant digital portfolio spanning technology, cyber security, information management and major reform programs.
Working closely with the judiciary, court users, legal professionals and government partners, you will shape the future of justice service delivery through modern, secure and user-centred digital solutions. This is a unique executive leadership opportunity to influence system-wide reform, strengthen organisational capability and improve access to justice for communities across Queensland.

This is a rare opportunity to lead digital transformation at the heart of Queensland's justice system.
As Chief Digital Officer, you will provide strategic leadership of the Digital Services and Programs business area, overseeing both the delivery of major reform initiatives and the ongoing operation of critical digital services. Leading a workforce of approximately 100 staff and contractors through three direct reports, you will be responsible for driving innovation, strengthening cyber resilience and ensuring technology investments deliver measurable business outcomes.
Operating within a unique environment that supports an independent judiciary, you will build trusted relationships across the justice sector and provide expert advice on complex digital, technology and organisational matters. Your leadership will help modernise service delivery, enhance user experience and support the effective administration of courts and tribunals across Queensland.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Develop and drive a contemporary digital strategy aligned to organisational modernisation priorities and access to justice outcomes.
- Provide enterprise leadership across digital services, technology, cyber security and information management.
- Lead the delivery of large-scale digital transformation and technology renewal programs.
- Ensure the provision of secure, reliable and high-performing digital services across the Courts and Tribunals environment.
- Strengthen digital governance, risk management and cyber resilience capabilities.
- Drive a culture of innovation, customer focus, performance excellence and continuous improvement.
- Lead complex organisational change and the successful adoption of new technologies and ways of working.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with judicial officers, senior executives, government partners and strategic suppliers.
- Provide trusted strategic advice on digital, operational and organisational issues.
About you
We are seeking an accomplished executive leader with a proven track record of delivering large-scale transformation in complex environments.
You will bring:
- Extensive senior executive experience leading digital, technology or transformation functions.
- Demonstrated success developing and delivering digital strategies that achieve measurable organisational outcomes.
- Strong leadership capability with a record of building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Experience navigating complex stakeholder environments and balancing competing priorities.
- Exceptional relationship-building, communication and influencing skills.
- Sound judgement, resilience and the ability to provide clear, strategic advice on complex issues.
- A commitment to innovation, inclusion, wellbeing and continuous improvement.
- An understanding of public sector governance and operating environments; justice sector experience will be highly regarded.
