The School Improvement Unit (SIU) is seeking state school principals at all stages of their career to join our team as Internal School Reviewer. As an Internal Reviewer, your role is to conduct school reviews across Queensland, providing schools with valuable feedback to support their improvement agendas. It’s a unique opportunity to step out of your current routine and deepen your understanding of school improvement, while working with colleagues and students across the state. There is no set engagement period (applicants can nominate their preferred dates) and we can schedule reviews around family and other commitments. All training, travel and accommodation is provided.

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:

  • Work collaboratively within a review team of two or more reviewers that may include other internal reviewers, principal peer reviewers, accredited external reviewers or other departmental personnel with the relevant expertise.
  • Participate in internal reviewer training to gain accreditation.
  • Conduct priority support, full school and self-determined reviews in accordance with SIU policies and processes. This includes preparing for reviews, undertaking interviews and fieldwork in schools, including collecting qualitative and additional quantitative data, analysing data using the National School Improvement Tool, and drafting reports which include review findings and improvement strategies.
  • Chair the review team when requested, which includes liaising with the school, region and the SIU.
  • Participate in moderation and feedback opportunities provided by the SIU.
  • Provide information and assistance to the SIU as directed.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

  • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. Information on registration requirements is available at enquiries@qct.edu.au or on toll free 1300 720 944.
  • You must be currently employed as a Principal or Acting Principal in a Queensland state school.
