As our Principal Health, Safety and Wellbeing Officer you will:
- Provide strong leadership in the development and implementation of strategic and operational health, safety and wellbeing systems, activities, and programs to effectively manage HSW (Health, Safety and Wellbeing) risk across the National Fire Ant Eradication Program (NFAEP).
- Develop and implement streamlined processes for:
management of Hazardous Substances, including a purchasing policy;
compliance of modified equipment; and training and competencies in operating plant and machinery.
- Lead, manage and supervise a small team, fostering and committing to workplace safety and maintaining quality practices and initiatives.
- Provide expert knowledge and advice to a range of key stakeholders, including the NFAEP management team regarding strategic and operational HSW risk matters.
- Work collaboratively/consultatively with the Departmental Corporate HSW team in the development and implementation of health, safety and wellbeing strategies and initiatives for the NFAEP.
- Develop HSW systems, processes and reporting functions to identify trends and develop strategies and programs to improve the NFAEP HSW performance.
- Develop and implement HSW programs that align with the department's safety management system to support effective practices within the NFAEP, including delivery of initiatives to effectively mitigate risks and improve overall performance.
- Lead the development and implementation of organisational change strategies to embed a health, safety and wellbeing culture and improve the overall HSW performance at managed facilities.
- Conduct HSW audits and inspections across all depots.
- Support Managers, Trained Safety Advisors and Health & Safety Representatives in “Best Practice” Safety process.

Eligibility requirements
You will be asked to provide evidence of how you meet the eligibility requirements during the selection process.
You might also have
- While not mandatory:
a tertiary qualification in a related discipline such as health and safety, human factors or human resources.
experience and qualifications in Certificate IV Competency and Assessment Training (TAE); and/ or o accreditations such as Lead Auditor (ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001) as well as qualifications/experience in incident investigation, would be well regarded. Licences and registrations
- a current ‘C' class drivers' licence
