Two permanent OO6 Ranger in Charge positions - Clermont and Nebo.

Take the opportunity to demonstrate your field and supervisory skills, by leading the planning and delivery of operational programs. Work alongside Traditional Owners to manage their spiritual lands. Help protect, manage and present parks and forests in the Clermont and Nebo work units.

These jobs are diverse and collaborative, and offer a mix of office and field-based work - with a particular focus on the delivery of conservation management priorities. The Clermont role supports the recovery of the critically endangered northern hairy-nosed wombat.

As Ranger in Charge, you will lead a small team of Rangers responsible for planning and delivering annual works programs within the Clermont or Nebo work units. The Clermont Work Unit incorporates various national parks, conservation parks and State forests within the Clermont-Belyando region, including Epping Forest National Park (Scientific). The Nebo Work Unit incorporates various parks and forests within the area surrounding Nebo, including Homevale National Park, Dipperu National Park (Scientific) and several proposed estate additions.

You will be responsible for planning and undertaking fire, pest and compliance activities, implementing work programs, maintaining park infrastructure, such as boundary fences and park access tracks. Undertaking administrative and reporting functions including program management and reporting, financial and budget management, and human resource management will be an important aspect of your role.

As Ranger in Charge, you will refine and build your practical and team skills. On a daily basis, you'll deal with both familiar and complex issues. Traveling, undertaking field work and camping out in varying climatic conditions is a regular part of both roles. Outdoor duties will be balanced with indoor work including reporting and administrative, financial and budget management tasks.

It is essential that you hold a manual driver's licence. While you do not need any tertiary qualifications, a formal qualification in a relevant discipline will be highly regarded as will a certification to use agricultural chemicals and poisons and
possession of a Queensland firearms licence.

The Ranger in Charge needs to be well-organised, resourceful and able to build and sustain meaningful relationships. As part of a collaborative and innovative team, you will uphold a positive, safe, diverse and inclusive culture; and be provided opportunities to learn, discover and grow.

You'll need:
- Leadership skills and experience.
- Practical skills and confidence in regional or remote settings.
- Courage and clear communication skills.
- The ability to form trusted and meaningful relationships with First Nations partners your team and park users.
- Organisational skills and project management experience.
- A strong belief in conservation and workplace health and safety (physical and psychological).
- To be self-motivated and self-sufficient.
- Administration, reporting and computer skills.
