As our Principal Project Officer, you will:
• Apply project management skills and knowledge to successfully implement and evaluate the delivery of Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce (FAST) projects with particular attention to:
o Development, tracking and delivery of project scope of works.
o Analysis of data to ensure accuracy, track progress and inform reporting.
o Track project progress against KPIs.
o Evaluation and reporting of projects linking to the FAST Work Plans.
• Supervise a small project team to ensure effective and efficient delivery of FAST projects.
• Support the Manager, Policy by providing technical and governance oversight of the FAST Policy stream, operational logistics, data and GIS mapping management (internal and from external stakeholders), business analysis and suppression evaluation metrics.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including various functions in the National Fire Ant Eradication Program (NFAEP) and FAST, to ensure a successful implementation of the FAST Work Plans. This will require a demonstrated understanding of operational delivery, stakeholder management and customer relations, amongst other key skills.
• Assist with FAST procurement activities for key components of the FAST Work Plans, ensuring they are completed within critical timeframes.
• Negotiate and communicate with a broad range of stakeholder groups in South East Queensland on behalf of Biosecurity Queensland. This includes landholders, businesses, community groups and government agencies which are required to undertake fire ant self-management.
• Provide technical advice to stakeholders on the effective implementation of fire ant self-management, including risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment and reporting.
• Provide input to public correspondence in Ministerial Executive Correspondence System (MECS).
• Provide advice to the Manager, Policy and Director, FAST in respect to optimising the delivery of the projects within the FAST Work Plan.
• Undertake risk and issue identification, assessment and mitigation activities ensuring risks and issues are documented and escalated along with recommendations.

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or relevant transferable experience would be desirable. We are seeking the best suited candidate for the role. We will achieve this by:
