We are looking for a Principal Biosecurity Officer (Preparedness) to join our high performing team at Biosecurity Queensland to:
• Lead a team to effectively deliver work by contributing positively to group tasks and, where relevant, providing guidance to new/inexperienced colleagues
• Independently and consistently undertake risk-based decision making within all activities, including associated documentation/record keeping.

As a Principal Biosecurity Officer, you will demonstrate technical emergency response capabilities enabling you to work in preparedness teams and on projects to help protect the Queensland biosecurity system. You will be responsible for independently undertaking clearly defined activities as part of a team to achieve effective and efficient delivery of the relevant preparedness plans. You will also provide information, advice and assistance to local stakeholders relating to biosecurity emergency responses.

You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:
• are dedicated to protecting and enhancing the Queensland biosecurity system.
• can manage your team and own work priorities, ensuring assigned tasks are undertaken promptly and meet the teams deliverables
• are actively contributing as a member of a high-performing team.

Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) is one of the integral DAF business groups, leading the government's efforts to prevent, respond to and recover from pests and diseases threating agricultural prosperity, the environment, social amenity and human health. We achieve this by maintaining access to markets, protecting animal welfare and reducing the risk of contamination from agricultural management
