What you will do (key responsibilities/duties):
• Drive the implementation and ongoing management of investment prioritisation and portfolio management to effectively manage risk and focus the department's investment in and delivery of priority outcomes, consistent with DAF's and the Government's strategic direction.
• Monitor, report and provide insights on DAF's portfolio, programs, projects, core business and corporate performance including risk, outputs, outcomes, and benefits, ensuring alignment with both departmental and whole-of-government reporting requirements.
• Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities, support decision-making, and implement savings initiatives across the department's portfolio, programs, and projects.
• Deliver clear, actionable findings that support DAF Senior Leaders and governance committees in making informed investment decisions and driving organisational performance.
• Build and enhance portfolio, programs, projects, core business and performance management capabilities across the department through targeted advice, education, training, and communities of practice.
• Prepare high-quality briefing notes, presentations, information papers, reports and correspondence on the department's portfolio, programs, projects, and core business for discussion with executives, Ministers, and other stakeholders.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, evidence-based decision making, innovation, and enhanced enterprise performance.
• Engage proactively with key internal and external stakeholders to build trusted and effective working relationships.
• Represent Portfolio and Strategic Investment in departmental forums, committees and in whole-of-government processes as required.
• Contribute to additional activities within the Portfolio and Strategic Investment team and the broader corporate business group as needed.
What you will bring (qualifications, registrations, experience):
• Demonstrated experience and qualifications in portfolio and/or program and/or project management.
• Proven expertise in management accounting, financial analysis, and the implementation of cost-saving initiatives.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to Senior Leaders and governance bodies.
