As our Senior Project Officer, you will:
• Develop and apply project management skills and knowledge to successfully plan, deliver and evaluate the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce primary producer's fire ant self-management project
• Supervise and help lead a small project team to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the project.
• Provide technical advice to primary producers and other rural residents on the effective implementation of fire ant management, including risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment and reporting.
• Provide effective project coordination, reporting and tracking of project activities including project deliverables and risks.
• Lead project data recording processes utilising departmental programs, including mapping, field data capture and integration into National Fire Ant Eradication Program IT systems. Ensure sound governance of data collection, storage, analysis and reporting of results.
• Plan and coordinate activities that support the engagement and extension with primary producers and other rural residents in the fire ant suppression area of South East Queensland, to incentivise and enable fire ant self-management.
• Represent the Department at workshops, field days, meetings and engagements with primary producers to promote fire ant management activities and options.
• The position will require some weekend work to facilitate training workshops.

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or relevant transferable experience would be desirable
We are seeking the best suited candidate for the role. We will achieve this by:

• A 3-month probationary period may apply to successful candidates.
• The Director-General may request an employee change their employment location.
• Referee checks will be conducted, and mandatory qualifications, licences and registrations will be verified for the recommended candidate.
• A criminal history check will be undertaken on the recommended applicant for this role, as per the department's Suitability screening for employment policy and procedure.
• The recommended candidate will be required to disclose any serious disciplinary action taken against them in public sector employment.
• Candidates may be subject to other pre-employment screening such as probity check checks during the selection process.
• Employees must disclose any perceived, potential, or actual conflicts of interest during their employment.
• Within 1 month of commencing employment, the successful candidate must disclose any employment as a lobbyist in the previous 2 years.
• All candidates are encouraged to advise the panel of any additional support or reasonable adjustments (i.e., building access, wheelchair access, interpreting services etc.) required during the recruitment process to ensure they can demonstrate their ability to meet the requirements of the role.
• As the position may involve participation in emergency responses, the successful candidate may be required to undergo training to apply their everyday work capabilities within a disaster or biosecurity response environment.
