We are looking for our next Ranger in Charge to lead a small team which covers a vast array of estates across the eastern part of the central sandstone belt of central Queensland, which includes a variety of Resources Reserves, State Forest, Conservation Park and National Park tenure. Other duties of this role include leading project management and reporting requirements, enforcement and compliance, and visitor management.
Subsidised departmental housing is provided for this position for up to 5 years.

This role's focus area is the supervision and leadership of a small team of rangers undertaking operational service delivery. This includes the development and delivery of fire, pest and asset maintenance programs. Taroom management unit covers 23 different estates across the eastern part of the central sandstone belt of central Queensland, which includes a variety of Resources Reserves, State Forest,Conservation Park and National Park tenure. Natural and cultural resource management, with an emphasis on fire management is an important part of the role.
The successful applicant will be required to work collaboratively with neighbours, lessees, First Nations partners and other stakeholders to get mutually beneficially environmental outcomes. Other duties of this role include leading project management and reporting requirements, enforcement and compliance, and visitor management. You will also be required to operate and maintain a variety of plant and equipment. This role includes field based, technical and administrative responsibilities. Taroom is currently a management unit of four rangers,
