You will collect pathology specimens from patients within or attending the Prince Charles Hospital.

What you'll do 
You will be required to fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values

•    Ensure correct patient identification, labelling and collection techniques are followed according to
•    documented policies and procedures.
•    Liaise with patients, medical and non-medical staff in a professional manner to ensure correct collection
•    and processing of specimens and efficient operation of the specimen collection department.
•    Work with integrity, comply with expected ethical and behavioural standards, respect patient's
•    confidentiality and know the importance of patient information.
•    Comply with NATA /ISO accreditation/certification requirements including the preparation of procedure manuals and completion of relevant statistics.

About you 
We are searching for someone who has:

•    Demonstrated experience or ability to acquire experience in the correct procedures of specimen collection/phlebotomy including the application of established policies and guidelines with minimal supervision.
•    Demonstrated knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of the importance of standard precautions in dealing with patients and biological specimens.
•    Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after careful instruction.
•    Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues
