The positions of Statewide Manager are responsible for the management of either:

Lawful Detention Unit;
Prisoner Progression (Parole Reports & Low Custody decisions); or
Operations (Capacity Management & Practice & Development

These roles operate on a rotational basis, subject to consultation with incumbents. This is to support knowledge sharing and succession planning to ensure continual delivery of these mandated critical QCS functions.

In this role you will:

  • Provide high level strategic analysis and advice on capacity utilisation sentence management policy, , planning, management and operational issues impacting on Sentence Management Services and the broader Agency to senior and executive management
  • Review and oversee complex operational processes for identifying, mitigating, and reporting risks related to sentence administration practices.
  • Provide high level written and verbal briefings/reports to senior and executive management on governance and operational outcomes, incident management, emerging trends and risk issues on sentence management operations and administration.
  • Develop and build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes, including the Parole Board Queensland, Department of Justice & Attorney General and the Queensland Police Service.
  • Review complex policy matters, case law decisions, legal advice and legislation interpretation in relation to organisational impact
  • Adopt contemporary human resource management practices to ensure the development of a highly skilled, flexible and engaged team in a positive work culture aligned to QCS values and objectives
  • Manage human resources and lead Sentence Management staff across multidisciplinary business units, with distinct functions, to achieve outcomes.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in service delivery and the development of innovative solutions whilst maintaining sensitivity to inter-agency and intra-agency issues
