This opportunity will suit an educator who is passionate about Arts education (visual and performing) and developing quality teaching and learning in a team environment for the ultimate benefit of student development and outcomes! Creating positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders to achieve the vision of the school while leading the Arts faculty, will be key.

This is a temporary full-time position for Semester 2, to commence from 14 July 2025 until 12 December 2025 with possible extension.

About the School

Mackay Northern Beaches State High School is the newest secondary school in Mackay, opening in 2013. The school took possession of a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre in 2019. The school is therefore seeking an energetic and future-focused and dedicated Head of Department to continue to lead the development of the Arts program and influence positive student learning outcomes within the school for Semester 2, 2025.

About the Role

As the Head of Department Curriculum (The Arts):

  • You will play a vital role in developing the quality of teaching and learning, development of a positive Arts culture within the school and developing solid strategic practices for managing resources to achieve positive student learning outcomes.
  • You will have a strong student-focused approach and ability to build strong professional relationships with students, teachers, parents and the community.
