TAFE Queensland’s South West Region (South West Region) plays a vital role in the economy and communities of over one-third of regional Queensland, with locations in Bundamba, Inala and Springfield in the east, Toowoomba and other key Darling Downs centres, Stanthorpe, Kingaroy and Cherbourg, to Roma in the west. Salary

Casual Teacher

$113.16 gross per hour (TAFE Queensland Educators’ Certified Agreement 2023)

Teacher (full-time equivalent)

$91,202 - $122,084 gross per annum (TAFE Queensland Educators’ Certified Agreement 2023)

Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must possess must hold one of the following Meat Processing credentials:

  • AMP30116 Certificate III in Meat Processing (Boning Room) or its predecessor; or
  • AMP30516 Certificate III in Meat Processing (Slaughtering) or its predecessor; or
  • AMP30322 Certificate III in Meat Safety Inspection or its predecessor; or
  • AMP30622 Certificate III in Meat Processing or its predecessor

and the following:

  • current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;
  • evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment;
  • current Queensland Driver’s licence.

Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills (or TAELLN401A) and TAEASS502 Design and Develop Assessment Tools (or TAESS502A or TAEASS502B); or
  • TAE50111 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; or
  • TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or its successor; or
  • TAE50211 Diploma of Training Design and Development; or
  • TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development or its successor; or
  • A higher-level qualification in adult education (approved by TAFE Queensland).

Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.

Highly Desirable

 Candidates who possess the following will be highly regarded:

  • High level of digital literacy skills across various platforms (online Learning Management Systems).
  • Industry currency - experience in relevant work sector (Boning Room/Slaughtering).

  1. Possess skills and knowledge of national training packages and accredited courses to support competency development and the ability to respond positively to industry and individual needs. 
  2. Demonstrate capacity for best practice in the management of teaching and learning activities including the development of industry relevant, flexible, innovative, technology enhanced learning options, training products and solutions.
  3. Demonstrate capacity for initiative, self-management, teamwork and sustainable practice, with the ability to accept, promote and manage change through the use of well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Demonstrate commitment to self-development with the focus on maintaining skills contemporary industry and teaching practices and the use of educational technologies and Learning Management Systems to support learning.
  5. Possess sound knowledge of safe, equitable and anti-discriminatory work practices and demonstrate ability to be flexible, inclusive, responsive and deliver quality student experience.
