We are seeking an experienced Finance Director to act in this position for a period of two months while we recruit for the permanent role. This is a critical leadership opportunity to guide TEQ's financial strategy and operations, ensuring strong governance, compliance, and support for organisational outcomes.
About the Role
The Finance Director leads the finance team to deliver high-quality strategic and operational financial services and advice. You will support the CEO and broader leadership team to forecast, allocate, and manage financial resources aligned with TEQ's strategic and annual plans.
You will oversee a robust financial management framework, ensuring compliance with the Financial Accountability Act 2009 and other statutory obligations. This includes financial risk management, internal controls, and audit engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead TEQ's Financial Strategy: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance reporting to support strategic decision-making.
- Deliver High-Quality Financial Operations: Ensure compliance with legislation, tax requirements, and internal policies while maintaining accurate and timely transactional processing.
- Provide Strategic Financial Advice: Support the CEO and leadership team with financial insights, scenario modelling, and engagement with government and external agencies.
- Strengthen Risk and Governance Frameworks: Manage financial risks, foreign exchange exposure, internal controls, and statutory compliance.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Collaborate across corporate services to enhance financial systems, processes, and supplier management.
- Lead and Develop the Finance Team: Foster a high-performing, engaged team culture with operational planning, mentoring, and career development.
About You
We're looking for a strategic and experienced financial leader with:
- Proven Leadership and Integrity: Demonstrates outstanding judgement, high-level ethics, and a strong achievement orientation.
- Extensive Financial Leadership Experience: Leads finance and accounting teams effectively in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of accounting standards, financial legislation, and Queensland Government financial frameworks.
- Strategic and Analytical Thinking: Strong influencing, negotiation, and presentation skills to drive organisational outcomes.
- Systems and Process Assurance: Experience implementing and maintaining financial, payroll, and reporting systems.
- Professional Credentials & Team Leadership: Membership with a recognised Professional Accounting Body and a passion for team development.
