The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is on a bold journey towards Brisbane 2032 and beyond. Following the extraordinary success of Queensland athletes at the recent Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are now focused on delivering even more medal-winning moments through to Los Angeles 2028 and our home Games in 2032.

The Performance Data Technical Lead will be responsible for overseeing the operations and delivery of the Performance Data team. This includes managing day-to-day activities, coordinating with key stakeholders, and ensuring that data systems and processes support the strategic needs of athletes and coaches. The Performance Data team works to provide a data-driven competitive advantage by collecting, interpreting, and leveraging data to generate actionable insights that create value across high-performance programs.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Provide expert advice to QAS leadership, staff, coaches, athletes, and various system partners on data science approaches that support informed, high-quality decision-making.
• Deliver high-impact analytics initiatives by identifying key performance challenges, co-designing data solutions with stakeholders, and aligning outputs to evolving needs in sport and business.
• Evaluate and implement emerging analytics and AI technologies, balancing innovation with risk management to ensure sustainable adoption within high-performance environments.
• Design and maintain systems and processes that support effective data capture, integration, and use across QAS programs and activities.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility to generate accurate, actionable insights that support strategic planning and program evaluation.
• Establish and promote robust data governance policies, embedding ethical, secure, and compliant data practices across the organisation.
• Build and strengthen partnerships with internal teams and external organisations to improve collaboration and uplift analytics capability across the system.
