We are seeking a passionate individual to join our team and contribute to programs of work that will support our work for Queenslanders across the state.
The Senior Advisor, Risk provides high quality risk management advice and support in line with best practice and standards.
As a subject matter expert (SME) for risk management at QCS, the Senior Advisor, Risk will contribute towards building organisational risk management capability and maturity. This position requires you to have strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills as well as the ability to assist with the identification, documentation and assessment of operational and strategic risks.
As the Senior Advisor, Risk you will:
- Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and be proactive in generating ideas for business improvements.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the QCS Risk Management Framework in accordance with legislative and statutory requirements.
- Maintain the agency strategic risk register, ensuring regular update and maintenance to ensure suitability of risk mitigation strategies and new and emerging risks are identified, recorded, mitigated and monitored.
- Assist in the development of risk management tools, guides and systems in alignment with standards and best practice to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to risk management.
- Educate agency staff in risk identification and assessment and mitigation strategy development, and provide support to risk coordinators and managers in the preparation and upkeep of risk registers.
- Develop strategic relationships and engage with key stakeholders internally and externally including representing QCS in a range of forums/committees to advance the interests of QCS.
- Contribute to the development of complex submissions and reports, briefing notes, presentations, publications and correspondence relating to QCS strategic and enterprise risks, for a diverse range of stakeholders, including Cabinet, Parliament and the general public.
- Provide quality risk advisory services.
This role is for you if you have:
- Experience in the identification and assessment of risk, and the development of effective risk mitigation strategies, preferably at an enterprise level.
- Knowledge of best practice risk management approaches, frameworks and policies to ensure effective management and mitigation of risks across the organisation.
- Advanced analytical skills to develop, evaluate and embed improvement in practices, procedures and systems that facilitate the achievement of enterprise strategies and plans.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills with ability to develop high level reports for senior management.
- High level interpersonal skills to build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders and negotiate with and influence others on sensitive and complex issues.
- A demonstrated ability to foster high levels of productivity and work ethic in a transformational environment.
